Hey all! I'm Shade/@shadaras, one of the mods here. :)

I don't recall exactly who in my DW circle first pointed me towards Word of Honor, because it was like the first little pitter-patter of a rainstorm; a few little drops, and then the whole sky starts pouring. A lot of my friends, both on- and off-line, got into SHL, and so I've been talking about it a lot with them since the show started airing.

I fell in love with the show from the first time we saw Wen Kexing in all his Valley Master glory, and continued to love it because of Zhou Zishu's slow realization that maybe he wants to live, Chengling's determination, and also Ye Baiyi being a delightful enigmatic gremlin.

I watched the first 8 episodes of Word of Honor (all that was out at the time), decided to read Tian Ya Ke (and enjoyed it), saw ep10 and started writing fanfic (shadaras), then read Qi Ye while waiting for more episodes to air and fell massively and utterly in love with Beiyuan and Wu Xi (they are possibly my favorite characters in the novel-verse).

Xie'er is probably my favorite Word of Honor-specific character! He is beautiful and terrible and full of murderous schemes, and I want him to have good things in his life.

Favorite scenes include things like YBY and WKX fighting about wanting to see ZZS's chest, ZZS fucking up Prince Jin, and any time Xie'er is playing his pipa. :)

So delightful! I could rewatch those scenes in a loop. And also Zhou Zishu in his Tianchuang look. *g*

Oh god, yes, these are both excellent scenes! (And really, YBY is the gift that keeps on giving.)

The most attractive he ever looks in the whole show. :3 Yeah! I love his Tian Chuang outfit.

He is! He really really is. (His actor is as well? Even if I don't see much actor-based stuff, everything I've seen about YBY's actor is him being a ridiculous gremlin somehow.)

I like ZZS's softer looks a lot, but yeah, I can't honestly disagree. *g*

(To be fair, from what I've seen the whole cast consisted of gremlins and nothing but gremlins. :D)

His softer looks are also good! I just love the sharp edges and the contrast the Tian Chuang stuff makes against how ZZS desperately wants to present/be now.

(Ahaha yes, I have also gotten that impression.)

ZZS fucking up Prince Jin

So... I love WKX, okay? Love him, my favourite character, I die a little inside every time he goes homicidal Ghost Valley Master and all that.

But.

But when ZZS started fucking up Prince Jin, the amount of squee in this household was insane. That is and will remain my favourite sequence of scenes, becuse ZZS went there to die and he played Prince Jin like Scorpy plays his pipa: to perfection!

And we realize ZZS and WKX are perfect for each other. <3

ZZS fucking up Prince Jin is incredible and he is very beautiful when he's letting himself be dangerous and schemey in that manner! :D So yes, agreed, very easy to go !!! over those scenes.

And, yes, a wonderful example of why WKX and ZZS are perfect together <3

And yes yes YES about them being perfect for each other! The whole Tianchuang interlude really was necessary to show that off, and SO satisfying. ♥

It was so satisfying because I’d spent the first 10 episodes in disbelief that this character would go to elaborate lengths to give himself 3 painful years of drinking just to relax and wallow in guilt. I was sure there had to be revenge in there somewhere. And then there wasn’t...

But Prince Jin up and nominated himself for some revenge anyway. So how about those nuts?

Xie'er really killed it every time he was on screen, I love the choices that the production team made with him. (I feel that about almost every part of the show, though.)
