SHL Reverse Bang!

Sign ups for artists, writers, and betas are now open for the Shan He Ling Reverse Bang 2022. If you're unfamiliar with a reverse bang, it's similar to a big bang, but the art comes first! Writers then craft a story based on a piece of art.

Artist sign ups are available through January 31, 2022. Artists are asked to create at least one fully rendered artwork.

Writer sign ups are available through February 20, 2022. Writers are asked to create a complete story with a suggested word count of 15k.

One question - how important is the discord? Because I'm hardly ever on discord.

It won't be a problem, you can communicate with the mods and your collaborators over email if you prefer. :)

You have a little time to think about it! :) Are you interested as an artist or writer?

I‘m an artist and have done a couple of big bangs in the past. I took a break last year because my time has become very limited. It is VERY tempting though and I have no other projects for 2022 yet.

ETA1: So I have a schedule question: it says a rough draft is due on the 14th Feb with additional description. On the 21st the art gallery opens. Is that when the final version is due? Or do the writers claim rough drafts?

ETA2: So I HAVE AN IDEA FOR THIS that is hopefully inspiring enough for a story

Okay good, that is definitely a schedule I can work with! Re the description for the art gallery, is this the story idea behind the art, or simply a wording of whatever is missing in the rough draft? I don‘t know how much story idea to specify, I want the writer to have some freedom as well. It shows that I haven‘t done reverse bangs much ;-)

Ooof sorry, I'm so behind on DW comments! It's your story concept for the art, a quick summary of what it's about. If you are unsure if you're writing too much/too little you can always run it by one of the mods before submitting when the times comes.
